There are numerous reiki symbols that reiki masters use and some even claim that one symbol is stronger or more correct than another. Like everything else in this universe reiki has evolved. I don’t spend my valuable time resisting evolution instead I look back to the beginning and honor the original teachings and let life unfold from there.

It was also once believed that the reiki symbols should never be put into print for being sacred and secret. Yet as you can see today healers have opted to share rather than to create and fulfill an illusion of secrets. I am one of those teachers. Healing of any kind should be shared with everyone who asks.

In general a symbol is a communication tool that simply represents a complex of person, object, group, or idea, meant to shift your consciousness or unconsciousness towards a special meaning. So, symbols represent a very specific energy, but are not that energy in itself.

Therefore a Reiki symbol is a command to the universal life force energy – they are sacred symbols. The Reiki symbols as such and the information that can be read about them are of little value on their own. In different tests it has been proven that the symbols have little or no use before a Reiki initiation. The Reiki symbols are like keys that open doors to a higher mind.

The Reiki Symbols not only cleanse one’s aura from contaminated prana but also balances the energy and strengthens the etheric body. Only a person with a strong etheric body can achieve psychic abilities and higher understanding in spirituality; and Usui System of natural healing is one of the safest system among many Spiritual practices in the world today, that enables one to achieve both healing and psychic abilities.

Reiki attunements differ from Reiju empowerments, being stronger in intensity. Mikao Usui gave weekly Reiju empowerments to his longer term students to enable them to increase their energy vibration on a slower but steady basis. However, for students on shorter courses, Usui used the attunement process as it gave an immediate and direct connection to the universal energy. Western Reiki incorporates the attunement process as the courses are usually held over two days.

Attunements can be extremely powerful in themselves, offering immediate balance and healing to the student. A typical attunement is carried out with a student being seated and relaxed. The Reiki Master will then place the sacred Reiki symbols into the student’s aura, chakras (energy centres) and hands. The energy now moves through the student, through the crown chakra (at the top of the head) and creates an internal channel for the energy to flow, eventually coming out through the student’s hands, where healing can be given and received. This energy also elevates the student’s vibration to a higher level.

Each student will have a different experience when receiving an attunement and always a positive one. In general, most students experience a feeling of total peace when receiving an attunement.
